A History of Holz Rubber Company

Long Standing Timeline with Our Customers

1935

Our history began in 1935 when William G. Holz, a German immigrant, established Holz Rubber Company, starting life as a tire retread operation.

1940's

Holz Rubber Company expanded by entering the food processing market by supplying parts to companies in California’s central valley.
1950's

Holz Rubber Company ventured into the mining equipment market in 1952 by aligning itself with large original equipment manufacturers (OEM) that manufactured equipment for the industry with such components as rubber-lined process valves, copper flotation equipment, and hydrocyclones for particulate separation.
1960's

Holz Rubber Company opened the decade by embarking in the forklift tire business. Although the company has not been in this business since the 1980’s, the move expanded the company’s manufacturing prowess. Holz Rubber Company introduced the world to its coveted Slide Lag which was quite innovative and it was the first field replaceable pulley lagging on the market.
1950's

During the 1970’s Holz entered the elastomeric expansion joint market. Holz acquired the assets of Hewitt Robins and began serving the many industries it serves today. Holz Rubber Company also entered the agriculture market. Seeds for the agriculture end of the business were planted by the expansion of the nut industry – primarily almonds, walnuts, and pistachios along with the tomato industry in California.
1980's

Holz Rubber Company entered the oil and gas market. Holz used its rubber development laboratory and engineering capabilities to solve the problems for its major oil and gas customers from exploration, “down the hole,” to refining with high temperature, high pressure applications.
1990's

Like many companies in the early 1990s, the economic downturn impacted the industries Holz Rubber Company served. The company weathered the economic time and came out with a refocused and committed approach to the business and its customers.
2000's

Holz Rubber Company quickly embraced the new millennium by continuing to refocus and grow. In 2004, Holz Rubber Company increased its presence into California’s agricultural markets by acquiring Picker Parts. In October 2005, Holz Rubber acquired Polymachine, LLC of West Jordan, Utah. Polymachine manufactured high tolerance, custom molded polymer components for chemical processing, mining and petrochemical applications.
2012

Acquired Caliber Industries and assets from Airboss’s Industrial Division, extending its manufacturing capabilities to include injection molding to its custom molding division. These acquisitions gave Holz additional technical expertise and manufacturing capabilities to better serve customers.
Today

Having stood the test of time, Holz Rubber is a key player in the expansion joint and custom molding manufacturing business. Holz prides itself on serving its customers by helping gain product efficiencies, cut costs, and meet timely deadlines.
