Many applications require that a protective coating or lining of rubber be applied to the inside surface of a container, pipe, tank, pump, or similar item to protect the metal surface from wear and/or corrosion. For such applications, Holz laboratory technicians first develop an appropriate compound to compound to withstand the hostile conditions involved.

A skilled lining staff custom fits the rubber material to the internal surfaces of the item being lined. This operation involves pattern cutting, laying down rubber to conform to the inside surface, and careful matching of seams.

Lined products range from rocket motors to heavy-duty mining equipment.

Hand Fabrication

The same skills necessary for quality rubber lining are also required in the fabrication of other hand made parts such as expansion joints for pressure piping systems and flue duct joints for low pressure gas systems.

Although standard dimensions and compositions are available, custom designs may be produced as necessary.

Mandrel-built products are also made by hand-forming on a specially designed mandrel. After the product has been built up on the mandrel, it is wrapped and placed in an autoclave where the curing process imparts final design characteristics.
